The goal of BEACHES is to improve estimates of uncertainty in children exposures and risks to Oil Spill Chemicals (OSC) during beach play. BEACHES will contribute to this goal by quantifying children exposures within the beach environment, and utilizing historical data from prior oil spills to create, test, and validate algorithms that describe time-space specific concentrations of OSCs to create an exposure modeling and estimation platform that can provide guidance that encourages safe beach use.
