Overview

The Research System Analyst/Programmer Associate supports Comprehensive Research Informatics Suite (CRIS) applications, including but not limited to LimeSurvey, OpenClinica and various business information management dashboards (e.g. Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute HUB, ARResearch, etc.) and serves as subject matter expert on software functionality and is responsible for building system components, testing, implementation support and maintenance of assigned CRIS application(s).

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, and implements custom research clinical trial management software applications:
    • Determines system requirements with users; investigates existing systems; gathers data by interviews, etc.
    • Assimilates data, identifies and relates information flow including manual tasks and governing policies to determine inputs, and processes and outputs
    • Develops alternative methods of designs and completes system designs
    • Defines input and output data requirements; specifies system data profiles and master files; and establish controls such as data and processing edits, calculations, and regulatory requirements
    • Meets with users periodically to explain systems; suggests and receives system revisions and approvals from users; and modifies system designs to meet user needs.
  • Administration and support of custom and vendor business and research clinical trial management software applications: 
    • Creates required test files; analyzes test results and debugs software operations; and checks data for validity
    • Assembles documentation, software narrative and testing approvals from users. 
    • Performs application implementations by coordinating with various areas of the IT department as well as the user community. 
    • Troubleshoots application issues and provide support to users of these systems.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or related field OR High school diploma/GED plus four (4) years of computer programming experience in one or more of the following: Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, Java, J2EE, PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript, or other web-based programming language including relational database experience in PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL or Oracle
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
