The Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT Administration is responsible for financial management and planning, cost analysis and reporting, general business oversight, contracting and procurement, human resource management, inventory management, audit coordination, and all other business & administrative processes and transactions for the Division of Information Technology.

  • Incumbents are expected to have extensive executive management experience with an emphasis in accounting, finance and human resources; comprehensive knowledge of technology funding and contracting strategies; substantial desktop business applications skills; expert skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; substantial knowledge of the use of comprehensive Enterprise Resources Planning systems; significant leadership skills; significant organization, attention to detail, and follow-through skills; and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively to both technical and non-technical staff across campus.
    • Incumbents must fulfill the responsibilities with limited general direction and maintain effective communications with the Chief Information Officer, Chief Financial Officer and their senior management teams. The position is part of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Team and dual reports to the Vice Chancellor of IT, CIO and the Senior Vice Chancellor of Finance & Administration, Chief Financial Officer with primary direction from and daily interaction with the CIO.
    • The position manages a 7 person team responsible for executing all IT financial and administrative transactions.
    • In addition to the experience, education, and skills described above, the ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics: approachable; collaborative; supportive; balanced between performing work his/her self, delegation, oversight, and timely guidance without micro-managing; ability to work well under pressure and/or tight deadlines and ensure your team works well under these circumstances.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or an equivalent degree; plus 12 years accounting and/or business experience, which includes 3 years business management experience, 3 years senior accounting experience and 5 years people management experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, project accounting and governmental accounting practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of State of Arkansas general accounting, procurement and human resource policies, procedures and prohibitions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices for budgeting, cost accounting, chargeback, procurement and contracting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate industry and business sector benchmarks.
• Demonstrated knowledge of audit practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of facilities planning and management.
• Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations best practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, data management, and graphics software.
• Demonstrated experience with comprehensive enterprise resource planning systems.
• Demonstrated ability to provide financial and administrative leadership at both the campus and divisional level.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, with management at all levels within the organization, with vendors, customers and clients and with peers across the industry.
• Ability to follow oral instructions, read and write.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master degree in Accounting or Business Administration with 15 hours of accounting courses including principles, intermediate, cost and governmental accounting plus 10 years accounting and/or business experience which 5 years business management experience, 5 years senior accounting experience and 5 years people management experience.


• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Knowledge of SAP financial, materials and human resource systems preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of University of Arkansas policies as well as UAMS policies.
