  • Overview

    The Project Management Intermediate will plan, coordinate and implement software development projects in a manner that enhances the capabilities of UAMS systems. This position exists to effectively and efficiently implement systems development projects and is expected to perform project tasks such as project coordination and management.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership:  Serves as application project leader by monitoring and controling project plans & project work deliverables and will lead/assist in numerous development projects. Participates in program and test walk-throughs to provide and obtain suggestions regarding each project phase. Reviews and evaluates need for and impact of new applications and methods of enterprise, academic, clinical and research practices in customer departments. Analyzes, reviews, and helps implement customer-requested system changes

     

    Analysis:  Performs project analysis and design related to new application development and system enhancements. Determines business requirements by consultation with customers; investigates existing systems, assesses current system capabilities and identifies opportunities for process improvements; documents relevant data and process flows; determines system inputs, processes, and outputs; assesses available technology, develops viable system design alternatives, complie with system standards.

     

    Implementation:  Coordinates and implements projects. Documents system requirements and system design; defines and documents user workflows and assists in procedure development; coordinates application development efforts with other divisions; conducts application training. Prepares systems and users for activation. Provides ongoing user support and systems maintenance. Follows JCAHO and HIPAA standards for Information Management and for user department operations.

     

    Administration:  Supports of custom and vendor business and healthcare software applications. Creates required test files; analyzes test results and debugs software operations; checks data for validity; assembles documentation, software narrative and testing approvals from users. Performs application implementations by coordinating with various areas of the IT department as well as the user community. Troubleshoots application issues and provides help desk support to users of these systems.  Ensures online training materials for software are up-to-date and location of materials is known to users. Ensures end user communication occurs related to changes, upgrades, and/or outages.

     

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business, Technical Writing or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in Information Technology plus 1 year in project leadership / implementation, managing moderate scale projects.
    • Must have one of the following certifications:  Lean Training, Sigma Six Green Belt or Agile/Scrum Training and certification.
    • Proven writing and communication skills.
    • Proficient in using MS Office applications, including MS Project and have experience using database reporting tools.
    • Proficient in tracking and reporting project timelines and milestones with the ability to work in a team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a hospital environment.
    • PMP certification
