The Sterile Processing Manager is responsible for staff's schedules, assignments, performance, and clinical competency in these areas. The Sterile Processing Manager ensures that reprocessing activities are in accordance with departmental and hospital policies, and are congruent with State Health Department Rules and Regulations, JCAHO standards, and AORN and AMMI standards. The Sterile Processing Manager is a member of the Sterile Services leadership team and works in collaboration with other team members to support optimal and efficient surgical services.
In addition, the Sterile Processing Manager promotes positive customer relations and an atmosphere of team work and professionalism. Provides accurate documentation concerning staff performance with follow up on staff concerns or disciplinary process; Demonstrates understanding and ability to initiate the disciplinary process; Role models positive behavior during periods of change/increased workload/stress; Identifies problems impacting effectiveness of patient care/unit activities and their solutions; and/or staff; Interviews and hires qualified staff; Mentors staff in the interview process; Fosters an environment on the unit that enhances staff productivity; Responsible for identifying, planning, implementing and ongoing evaluations of unit's objectives and goals. Performs other duties as required.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business or 5 years of supervisor/management experience in Sterile Processing. Candidate MUST have 5 years of sterile processing training or experience. CRCST or CBSPD certification required within 1 year of hire. Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred: 6 or more years of supervisor/management experience in Sterile Processing. Current CRCST or CBSPD certification.
