The Research Technologist assists the Principal Investigator in the implementation, evaluation and presentation of research in the immune response and neurologic outcomes following central nervous system catheter infection. The Research Technologist supports this project in the areas of animal colony management; murine surgical procedures per the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approved protocol; immunologic assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex analysis, etc; and bacterial culture. The position reports directly to the Principal Investigator of this project.

(25%) Mouse model management: These include assisting with or performing the IACUC approved animal surgery & monitoring for catheter implantation, as well as tissue collection. Additional responsibilities would include supervision of the animal colony and breeding protocol.
(35%) Immunologic and microbiologic analysis: These include performing and troubleshooting multiple assays including bacterial culture, ELISA, multiplex analysis, flow cytometry and other assays as needed per the research needs.
(20%) Laboratory management: Oversee ordering, equipment maintenance needs, specimen and data storage and other laboratory management needs in conjunction with the principal investigator.
(10%) In vitro experiments: Cell culture and analysis as directed by the research program.
(10%) Other duties as assigned by the principal investigator.
Bachelor's degree in a Scientific field plus 2 years of laboratory research experience required.
