  • Overview

    Under general supervision, the Systems Administrator Senior provides accurate, timely support and creative solutions to Linux server administration, end user server issues, and storage system management.  Scope of work includes architecture, configuration, maintenance, testing and documentation of servers and storage systems, peripheral components and other applications relative to the server and storage environments.

    Responsibilities

    • Architects, implements and support of Linux Server environments. 
    • Implementation and Support of various storage systems. 
    • UAMS IT Environment includes but is not limited to: Active Directory, AIX, Cache, Citrix XenApp, CommVault backup. DHCP, DNS, Email, Epic EMR, Epic, Exchange, HACMP, IBM hardware, IIS, Linux Operating Systems, Proxy, Radius, RAS, SharePoint, Skype for Business, SNA, SQL Server, Storage Area Network (SAN), View VDI, VMware ESX, VPN, Windows Desktop Operating Systems, Windows Server Operating Systems and WINS.
    • Documents work in progress and solutions to trouble calls using call tracking software.
    • This position participates in a group 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year on-call rotation where each member of the group would be on-call for 1 week at a time. When on-call, required to respond immediately to trouble calls during work hours as well as outside of general work hours.
    • Work occasionally may require in excess of eight hours per day. Workload pressure will regularly subject incumbent to moderate to high job-related stress.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelors Degree  in Computer Science or related field of study plus five (5) years of IT system administration experience in a large, complex environment with two (2) years supporting Linux and two (2) years supporting storage area networks - OR - a High School diploma plus 9 years of the above listed experience.

     

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor degree in Computer Science plus 5 years of IT experience with two years supporting RedHat or CentOS Linux. 

    Two years of experience installing, configuring and maintaining storage systems, for example, XIOtech, Dell PowerVault, IBM, EMC, Hitachi and others. 

    Five years administering two of the following: Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Server backups, VMWare Server, or Physical Server hardware.
