    UAMS’ Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) is a vibrant environment for research. It hosts multiple NIH/NCI funded projects and provides biomedical informatics insights to the entire UAMS community. The expertise and research interests of DBMI faculty cover multiple key disciplines of Biomedical Informatics, including Imaging Informatics, Bioinformatics, Clinical Research Informatics, and Semantic Web technologies in the life sciences.

     

    The Application Systems Analyst/Programmer-Senior develops, evaluates, and implements innovative informatics systems to solve complex healthcare and biomedical research issues. Qualified applicants should be able to apply creativity in adopting proven technologies, platforms, and architectures to new problems.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs the development of cutting edge technologies, platforms, and architectures.
    • Develops, analyzes, tests, implements, and performs software upgrades to keep applications running smoothly.
    • Performs application maintenance and troubleshooting while providing custom report writing.
    • Works on assignments that involve systems analysis and programming work (full stack development) on tasks of high complexity.
    • Provides contributions to scientific papers describing the programming work and its implications.
    • May perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field plus four (4) years of experience in a technical or research environment OR High School Diploma/GED plus eight (8) years of experience in a technical or research environment
    • Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Perl, Python, and Java, C, C++, or C #
    • Experience with a web-based programming languages such as Java Script
    • Experience in one or more relational databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Sybase, Informix or PostgreSQL
    • Web-based framework experience in Django, Ruby on Rails, Node.JS or similar

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with using Docker to run distributed applications
