    The Submissions Manager supports the expansion of the collections of the National Cancer Institute’s The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA). TCIA is a service that de-identifies and hosts a large archive of publicly accessible medical images of cancer. The Data Manager is involved in the acquisition of new data collections and representing the TCIA as a cutting edge research product though integration of new and complex imaging modalities with more exotic non-image meta-data.

    Salary offered commensurate to experience.


    1. Oversees the intake of new collections to the archive by coordinating with scientists, PIs and other professionals
    2. Understands all collection requirements and coordinates with the National Cancer Institute and its contractors to ensure collections are submitted accurately
    3. Designs submission plans and coordinates with staff and clients to ensure submissions are catalogued properly
    4. Designs work plans and assigns work to data support specialists, supervising them to the completion of work, and serving as the authority to identify and solve issues.
    5. Manages a team of data support specialists.
    6. May perform other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree PLUS seven (7) years of experience in a research, radiological or similar science environment OR a Master’s degree PLUS five (5) years of experience in a research, radiological or similar science environment
    • Experience de-identifying patient data
    • Familiarity of technical data requirements of radiological images, pathology images or other scientific specimens
    • An understanding of HIPAA requirements
    • CITI training must be completed within six (6) months of hire



    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to create, modify and implement workflows and operating procedures
    • Ability to prioritize competing demands
    • Ability to manage work assignments for a staff of 4-6
