  • Overview

    The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of the clinic nurse by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients.

    Responsibilities

    Conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), update information on patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR), perform EKG's, dressing changes, draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Performs administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems. May perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required: High School Diploma/GED plus successful completion of Medical Assistant Training from an Accredited Program. Must have excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.

     

    Preferred: Patient Care experience, current BLS.
