  • Overview

    The Access Coordinator III meets and greets the public; answers the phone and/or coordinates appointments; facilitates comprehensive patient data collections to insure timely and accurate patient billing. S/He must be able to perform all duties of the Access Coordinator I and II level and performs other duties to support the patient care activities as needed.

    Responsibilities


    1. Conducts pre-registrations, inputs and/or updates accurate patient information.

    2. Conducts insurance verification and benefit explanation by running eligibility on patients.

    3. Enters benefit and authorization information.

    4. Conducts coordination of benefits for multiple insurance plans to ensure the appropriate order of carrier coverage is paid first which eliminates payment mistakes, delays and non-payments.

    5. Functions as a preceptor and resource for Access Coordinator I and II pre- registration staff for all pre-registration questions and facilitate comprehensive patient data collections, timely and accurate registration, and facilitates registration coordination and conflicts.

    6. May perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:



    • High School diploma/GED plus at least three (3) years of experience in registration, billing, or scheduling in a healthcare environment

    • Excellent communication and customer service skills

    • Basic computer/keyboard skills, telephone etiquette skills, and general knowledge of office machines including printers and scanners

    • Knowledge in basic medical terminology required


     


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • CHAA Certification preferred
