  • Overview

    The Director of the Commission on Child Abuse, Rape and Domestic Violence collaborates and provides leadership in resource development, policy revisions or development, monitoring evaluation of funded programs, helps develop and implement model protocol for multi-disciplinary teams and is involved in developing and implementing training for multi-disciplinary coordinators.  The Director will also provide leadership and oversight of any legislative initiative proposed by the Commission’s various committees.  Coordinate with the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions to discuss member vacancies and potential appointees.  Director will also manage periodic review of project activities and determine any necessary change in strategies. Director, along with Commission staff monitor ways to enhance increasing successful education efforts to inform the public and professionals regarding the focus areas of the Commission.  Director and appropriate staff members provide requested/required presentations to various legislative committees. Commission director serves on various boards, committees, task forces, councils and other deliberative bodies addressing specific issues that are within their purviews.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement policies as directed by the Commission; reviews projects and initiatives funded by Children’s Justice Act, Children’s Advocacy Center Appropriations, Preventive Health Services Block Grant, Rape Prevention Education Funds and Domestic Violence Appropriations.
    • Manages both written and verbal communication related to general operations; acts as liaison with service providers and agencies dealing with issues related to child abuse, child deaths, sexual assault, human trafficking and domestic violence.
    • Provide requested testimony to legislative committees; conducts on-site visits to Commission-funded programs and providers; edit and approve grant proposals by staff members; plan and monitor implementation of special projects and events.
    • Responsible for development and oversight of a comprehensive budget including ability to articulate budget information to various stakeholders.
    • Review reports required by various funding sources; provides input on and review of budgets for various funding sources; attends trainings related to various funds; authorizes expenditures; review grant accounts activity; review contracting processes and recommends approval; presents updates and recommendations regarding status of funds sources.
    • Provide general information, assistance and resources to the general public and professionals on facets of child abuse, child deaths, sexual assault, human trafficking and domestic violence; coordinates with various agency’s activities related to the Commission’s focus areas; participates in meetings as a member of boards, committees, task forces and councils and other work groups as appropriate.
    • Develops training components related to the Commission’s focus areas; conducts workshops and presentations to inform professionals relative to new system policy and procedure.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Social Work, Public Health or related field plus 7 years of program administration experience including 6 years of supervisory experience. Must have a high level of efficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Must have excellent written and verbal skills. Must have experience with budget oversight and review. Prefer a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Social Work, Public Health or related field plus 5 years of program administration experience including 4 years of supervisory experience.
