    This Pharmacy Technician II assists the pharmacists with the preparation and delivery of medications to the patient care units.

    Responsibilities

    • Understands and follows all policies related to prescription processing. 
    • Dispenses the prescriptions accurately to the patients.
    • Notifies a pharmacist when medications are ready for checking.
    • Takes the initiative to assist with IV compounding under the direction of the IV pharmacist. 

    • Assemble products for the preparation of parenteral medication. 

    • Reconstitute, measure, and add medications to a parenteral fluid under the supervision and checking of the preparation by a pharmacist.  

    • Prepare multi-additives parenteral medications fluid under the supervision and checking of the preparation by a pharmacist.

    • Expedites delivery of all STAT/NOW orders.  Communicate with the pharmacist on a regular basis regarding delivery of medications. 

    • Delivers medication bins accurately and promptly. Rotates medications appropriately. 

    • Delivers Pyxis accurately and promptly.  Stocks assigned areas daily.  Maintains security of controlled substances.  Remove expired drugs from assigned areas monthly

    • Must be dependable

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • HS Diploma or GED.  
    • 1 year work experience
    • National Technician Certification or eligible for certification required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1 year experience working in a hospital or retail setting
    • Good math skills
