  • Overview

    This individual will assist in coordination of health outcomes and community-based research activities within the Division of Pediatric Allergy/Immunology by assisting the Investigator in the development and implementation of research projects. This position will act as a liaison between the investigator/research team and clinical staff, local community members, school personnel, ACH and UAMS biostatistical personnel and study participants. The research focus areas will include asthma and other allergic or co-morbid diseases with emphasis on community-based and health outcomes studies in asthma.

    Responsibilities

    1. To work directly with the investigator to develop, plan and implement research projects, prepare institutional review board protocol submissions, oversee and participate in subject recruitment and retention, informed consent procedures, scheduling and maintaining communication with subjects and parent/guardians.
    2. To conduct all clinical research activities in a manner which affords maximum human subject protection, compliance with applicable regulations and in keeping with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
    3. Assist in training and supervising community workers and research staff.
    4. Assist with development, design and delivery of study related correspondence (written communications and oral presentations) to data safety monitoring committee, study participants, medical staff, community stakeholders, referring physicians and research personnel.
    5. Maintain study documentation in accordance with departmental, institutional and federal regulations. Conduct data entry. Assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, posters and research related correspondence to funding agency and for local/state/national presentations.
    6. Weekly (and as needed) meetings with PI, Co-investigators, and research study team members. Travel as necessary to study sites to assist with the research protocols and recruitment/retention activities.

     

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Biology (or related science), Health Education or related field plus 3 years’ experience in Health Education or research required.
