  • Overview

    The Student Employee-Interprofessional Education is a UAMS student who supports daily operations of the Office of Interprofessional Education (OIPE). The hours of work of the Student Employee position includes Monday – Friday general hours of 8 am – 5 pm, but may vary occasionally to accommodate student course schedules and OIPE event calendar. (Example: Hours may range from 7 am – 6 pm for early morning/early evening events). The Student Employee is an active participant in OIPE daily operations including staffing of the office and general clerical support, building a positive community and collaborative spirit for OIPE activities and interactions with students, faculty, and staff, assisting students, faculty and staff with OIPE questions, and serving as a resource and/or liaison for the student body.

     

    Salary: $12 hourly

    Responsibilities

    Office Duties:

    1. Perform clerical duties using office equipment and software (copying, completing paperwork, filing, answering phones, assembling packets, scan documents, calendar maintenance, room reservations, and other general duties). 
    2. Greet any guests that arrive in the office and assist them or direct them to someone else.  
    3. Assist with collection and entry of data to various databases.
    4. Assist in the preparation of abstracts, posters, and PowerPoint presentations. 
    5. Perform literature searches. 
    6. Participate in event planning for student events. 
    7. Assist faculty members and students on various projects as directed by supervisor.
    8. Assume duty responsibility according to the formal and/or informal work plan and assignments for the OIPE as reviewed in OIPE weekly meetings.
    9. Assist in setup and takedown of OIPE events including check-in/out, materials preparation and distribution, data collection and entry, preparation of rosters, and other duties as assigned.
    10. Attend and participate in OIPE training and team meetings (as allowed by class schedule).  

    Community Building, Relationships, and OIPE Culture Expectations:

    1. Become knowledgeable regarding the campus-wide IPE Curriculum and build rapport that fosters open communication for the OIPE with faculty, staff, and students.
    2. Develop and promote a positive working relationship with all students, faculty, and staff interacting with the OIPE.
    3. Implement and encourage the development of a collaborative spirit for OIPE activities and interactions.
    4. Assist students in their integration into the University and OIPE activities.
    5. Become a positive role model for students.
    6. Represent the student “voice” in OIPE event planning and activities.
    7. Provide continuous interaction and example which encourages students to act with reason, to assume responsibility for their actions, and to be consistently considerate of the rights and freedoms of others.
    8. Know and adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to student behavior and communicate issues/concerns to the OIPE administrative team.

    Student/Faculty/Staff Assistance:

    1. Demonstrate the capacity to listen and understand, and to be flexible and open minded in responding to student/faculty/staff needs and concerns.
    2. Encourage and assist individuals in finding solutions.
    3. Refer freely to departmental, campus and community resources.
    4. Maintain familiarity with the locations and operations of OIPE, campus and organizations (e.g. Parking lot, ED West, ED II, Parking deck, Main Hospital, etc.) and make referrals when appropriate.

    May perform other duties as needed.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements:

    1. Student must be a UAMS student in one of the six UAMS colleges.
    2. Student must be actively enrolled in coursework.
    3. Student must be available for employment for two semesters upon initial hire.
    4. Student must not be employed in any other UAMS department or lab.
    5. All employment positions within UAMS are interrelated. Consequently, disciplinary action received while employed may impact your employment status with the University, including discharge.
    6. Students are expected to place the position as one of their highest priorities. Students may work no more than 20 hours per week.
    7. Student must have experience with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint.
