  • Overview

    The Associate Director of Hospital Administration will direct the efforts for all aspects of insurance eligibility, pre-registration, financial risk management, including management of financial counselors, on-site county eligibility workers and the relationship with Medicaid program eligibility vendors, management of patient estimates, UAMS RTE (real time eligibility) and administration of the UAMS charity care program.

    Salary:  Negotiable


    • Directs staff in the daily operations of screening and providing financial clearance for uninsured patients seeking care at UAMS.
    • Services provided to uninsured patients include screening for Medicaid eligibility, referral service to Medicaid eligibility vendor and/or Medicaid case workers, processing of charity applications, referral for other government or community programs, obtaining pre-service payment or arrangements and collection of outstanding debt.
    • Manages staff responsible for maintaining the UAMS RTE (real time eligibility), authorizations, and patient estimates system.
    • Develops policies, work-flow and working relationships that will support the primary job functions of the unit.  
    • Ensures financial goals are defined and achieved. 
    • Monitors staff quality and productivity.
    • Works to identify and institute changes in process that will improve cash collections.
    • Creates an environment of positive enthusiasm, commitment to change, and team effort.
    • Encourages engagement of staff to participate actively in ongoing improvement.  


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree in a business related field PLUS 5 years of experience in revenue cycle AND 6 years of management experience.
    • Excellent analytic, oral and written communication skills and computerized patient accounting applications.
