    This is a part-time benefits eligible position


    The Research Assistant primarily assists with data collection, aggregation, and management and activities for funded research and program evaluation studies, with specific projects potentially changing over time within the key responsibilities described. S/He also helps with overall project implementation, coordination, and IRB management. There may be opportunities to assist with research dissemination, including presentation and/or publication of results. Some travel may be required.


    This is a provisional position.  Provisional positions are funded by external grants or contracts with established end dates.  When the grant expires or is not extended, the provisional position will be eliminated.  Employees in provisional positions may apply for other positions at UAMS when their provisional position ends.

    Data Collection, Aggregation, and Management: 

    • Recruits and enrolls study participants and collects, aggregates, and manages project data.
    • Assists in the management of record storage, and monitors accrual rates and referral sources.

    Research Administration: 

    • Engages in administrative activities necessary to promote successful administration and completion of the projects.
    • Assists with IRB management, printing/organizing data collection materials, and attending regular meetings with Principle Investigator (PI).

    May perform other duties as assigned.


    Bachelors Degree in any one of the social or behavioral sciences such as psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, health science or communications or journalism or related plus 3 years research experience including direct human subjects’ data collection and data aggregation/management



    • Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to build rapport
    • Ability to plan, organize, develop and write comprehensive reports of project findings
    • Ability to interpret and apply institutional, state and federal laws and regulations regarding specialized area of work
    • Knowledge of planning, research and analysis techniques and procedures
    • Ability to independently solve problems related to these areas and otherwise discuss potential solutions with principal investigator
    • Interaction with study and program evaluation participants is a key responsibility
