    The Medicaid Representative II is responsible for interacting with patients, visitors, patient’s family and other persons who come to the Medicaid office; and processing Medicaid cases.

    • Meets and greets the public and answers questions in a professional manner.
    • Develops and maintains knowledge-base of UAMS policies and procedures, federal and state regulatory mandates and requirements including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, EMTALA, HIPPA and Joint Commission.
    • Screens patients, takes and completes Medicaid applications and makes sure that the applications are completely filled out for the caseworkers.
    • Interviews and determines potential eligibility for patients.
    • Adds patients to Medicaid Data bases.
    • Learns and determines eligibility for at least twenty Medicaid categories 
    • Remains current on new Medicaid directives, policies, and procedures. 
    • Informs patients of Financial Assistance Plan, eligibility requirements and applications.
    • Successfully complete DHS Curam Caseworker Training.
    • May perform other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • A minimum of one of the following:
      • Two (2) years of Medicaid enrollment experience and processing Medicaid enrollment for recipients


      • One (1) year of Medicaid enrollment experience and processing Medicaid enrollment for recipients PLUS two (2) years of experience in healthcare billing or registration
    • Intermediate proficiency with computers (Preferably MS Office Suite)
    • Basic keyboard, telephone and knowledge of office machines including printers
    • Knowledge of Medicaid and DHS policies

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate Degree with an emphasis in health/business related field
    • Experience in insurance related to healthcare
    • Knowledgeable in advanced medical terminology and medical coding
    • Previous experience working with DHS and Answer computer system
    • Understanding of regulatory and compliance organizations/agencies


    • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
