  • Overview

    The Compliance Manager of Auditing and Physician Education will report  to the Senior Director of Clinical Billing Compliance under the working title of Physician Compliance Manager. Position assists with implementation of an effective Compliance program to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct of members of the Integrated Clinical Enterprise. In partnership with the Senior Director and compliance staff, the Physician Compliance Manager provides guidance for campus leadership, clinical department chairs, faculty members and Clinical Billing Compliance (CBC) staff members on matters relating to professional billing compliance.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages the Clinical Billing Compliance “CBC” office and audit staff on the physician side and oversees the implementation and execution of the annual CBC Auditing Plan for professional billing.
    • Prepares monthly reports and collaborates with the Senior Director to provide guidance on those reports for Senior Leadership.
    • Attends quarterly compliance committee meetings or other regularly scheduled or ad hoc meetings with leadership as requested by the Senior Director.
    • Directs and assists with uniform, expedient investigations and resolutions of compliance concerns reported through the confidential compliance hotline or through other reporting avenues.
    • Works in conjunction with the CBC staff to identify areas of risk for ICE billing providers through review of the annual DHHS OIG work plan, monitoring RAC auditor announcements, and staying abreast of other state and federal agency updates.
    • Develops and implements monitoring and corrective action plans for billing providers as needed. 
    • Monitors department/division compliance plans and policies biannually through the risk assessment process and assists with proper reporting of compliance violations both internal and external to UAMS as appropriate or required.
    • Oversees and implements the physician compliance education program, including face-to-face meetings with all new billing providers, holding in-services annually or as requested on various compliance topics, educating and training CBC auditing staff and quality assurance of completed audits, as well as researching and answering questions from staff members of the billing and coding offices and other areas of campus. 
    • Assists the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Compliance with other projects as needed and support Institutional Compliance efforts, as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Health-care Administration, Health Information Management or related degree and 10 years' experience in professional coding/auditing functions, including 2 years personnel management experience.
    • Requires current CPC, CCS-P, or CCS certification.
    • Advanced computer proficiency in Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint. 
    • Must have knowledge in areas of:  regulatory compliance, auditing, communication, problem identification, investigation and resolution, professional coding and billing, risk assessment. 
    • Must have proven, strong and effective written and verbal communication skills, and strong diplomacy skills. 
    • Must have the ability to interact with a broad spectrum of personnel and personalities with dignity and respect.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • CHC certification or willing to obtain within 2 years of employments
