    The MLS Microbiology Supervisor will be responsible for writing and revising procedures, evaluates employees annually and prepares schedules for efficient coverage to maintain functioning of the Microbiology section.  This position is under the general supervisor of the Clinical Manager for Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics labs.

    Salary:  Negotiable


    • Performs testing of patient samples, interprets, review and prepares patient test results for review by Medical Director (Must be trained and competent on all benches).
    • Writes and revises procedures as indicated, schedules personnel, evaluates employees annually, institutes disciplinary action as appropriate.
    • Monitors daily testing processes by technologists to identify and resolve problems and provides technical assistance as needed.
    • Maintains all aspects of QC and QA relevant to the CAP certification standards.
    • Responsible for employee student training, employee competency assessments and evaluations.
    • Participates in research and validation for new tests.  Attends training workshops and seminars as needed to improve efficiency of laboratory.
    • Perform test to identify antigens or microorganisms according to written procedures.
    • Records and evaluates daily, weekly and monthly QC in their assigned areas when working the benches.
    • Reviews QC and institutes corrective action as necessary; maintain safe work practices and engage manager or director as appropriate. 


    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biology or Microbiology PLUS 5 years of experience in a Clinical Microbiology Lab.
    • ASCP Certification.
