  • Overview

    The Financial Manager reports directly to the Administrator of the Department of Geriatrics and the Reynolds Institute on Aging (RIOA) and will assist with all financial responsibilities for both the Department and the Institute including annual budgets, capital budget requests, monthly variance reports, and monitoring of departmental expenditures across all funds to ensure accurate  postings.  This person will be involved with strategic planning and will make recommendations to the Administrator and the RIOA Executive Leadership in facilitating cost-savings and operational efficiencies and will serve as a delegate for reviewing and approving travel, procurement, foundation payments, grant proposals (TRACKS) and clinical research studies (CLARA).  Additional responsibilities include contracts management (Ntracts), processing Justification for Recruitment (JFR) for new faculty positions, updating personnel funding allocations in ESS, interdepartmental transfer entries, RIOA facilities management, and foundation invoicing submitted through the Foundation Funds and Tracking Administration (FFTA) system.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with all financial responsibilities for the Department and Institute including annual budget preparation, capital budget requests, and monitor departmental expenses across all funds.
    • Review travel, purchase requisitions, and payment authorization requests (PAR).
    • Provide recommendations to the Administrator and RIOA Executive Leadership on financial matters including cost-savings and operational efficiencies.
    • Prepare monthly variance reports, process personnel funding allocation changes in ESS, and interdepartmental transfers (IDT).
    • Process Justification for Recruitment (JFR) for new faculty positions and FTE Allocation changes.
    • Assist with contracts management (Ntracts) and prepare invoices to be processed through the Foundation Funds and Tracking Administration (FFTA).
    • Assist the Administrator with special assignments including financial/workforce budget forecast/projections.
    • Review budgets and ensure that the grant applications and research protocols are aligned with the missions of UAMS and the Department and that the grant proposals are in compliance with institutional policies/procedures and funding agency guidelines.
    • Serve as the Delegate for TRACKS and CLARA electronic signatory of grant applications and clinical research studies.
    • Provide grants management support for the Department of Geriatrics and the Institute on Aging in partnership with OSPAN, SciCom, and ORSP that will include assisting with complex grant applications (i.e., NIH Program Project/Center Grants).
    • Review monthly grant reports and ensure that the expenditures are aligned with the approved grant budgets.
    • Assist with the day-to-day RIOA facilities management including submitting work requests for building repairs.
    • Assist with RIOA outreach events and help coordinate special projects.
    • Assist in the compilation of reports for internal requirements and for external agencies.
    • May perfom other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, math or business related field plus 5 years of financial management experience preferably in a healthcare setting OR Master’s degree in business administration, accounting or related field plus 3 years of financial management experience preferably in a healthcare setting.

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong analytical skills and financial reporting.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel). 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    SAP experience
