  • Overview

    The Director of Simulation Education is responsible for supervising and training all Healthcare Simulation Educators and Faculty. S/He coordinates with the staff to maintain the center and all equipment; directs the center manager to order appropriate supplies and all equipment; approves all simulation scheduling with the center manager and coordinates all course with the Healthcare Simulation Educators. S/He works with the Executive Director to ensure alignment with best practices as outlined by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. S/He promotes, publishes, and presents workshops on simulation center activities.

    Curriculum Development and Teaching

    • Creates Curriculum for Center’s core courses
    • Responsible for teaching faculty and staff in course development for the center
    • Works closely with the Executive Director to identify course needs
    • Designs logistical support for educational services
    • Designs and creates evaluation for the curriculum
    • Oversees Simulation Trainings
      Designs protocol for simulation events and room setup with staff
    • Teaches and sets simulation protocols for faculty, staff, and students
    • Designs train-the-trainer classes
    • Designs data collection using approved software
    • Designs and creates evaluation for the curriculum and maintain student/faculty evaluations when applied to simulation courses

    Center Promotional Support

    • Markets the use of the center to internal and external clients
    • Develops promotional activities to increase awareness of the center
    • Designs and coordinate promotional presentations, demonstrations, and published works
    • Designs curriculum and CME for UAMS departments to promote center

    Equipment and Facility Maintenance

    • Directs the maintenance of facilities and equipment
    • Coordinates all necessary supplies and equipment are available as needed
    • Develops preventive maintenance schedules for equipment
    • Orders all needed repairs in a timely manner
    • Responsible for vendor relations to assure equipment is maintained in optimal condition
    • Directs all IT support for the center

    May perform other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, PharmD, M.D., or Physician Assistant
    • Five (5) years of medical simulation experience
