  • Overview

    Under the direction of the District Energy System Manager, the DES Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising the operation, maintenance and repair of the DES that serves the medical, educational, and research facilities on the UAMS Campus. These systems are vital to the safety, comfort, and general wellbeing of patients, students and employees. This position is also responsible for assisting with all problems and/or emergencies relating to facility issues on the UAMS Campus.

    Salary: $53,265 annually

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with the management, operation, and repair of the components of the “Campus” DES system.
      • Items included in the DES system are (but not limited to):
        • (5) high pressure steam boilers,
        • (5) heating water boilers,
        • (16) chillers,
        • (2) heat pump chillers,
        • Cooling towers, pumps, electronic valves, temperature sensors, controllers, VFD’s, and motors.
    • Drive to and from other UAMS sites as needed.
    • Responsible for ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), The Joint Commission (TJC) and all other applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Responsible for professional quality and workmanship of all work performed by assigned staff.
    • Assists with the management of the maintenance contract for the chilled water system and the chemical treatment for the chilled and heating water.
    • Responsible for ordering materials and supplies for scheduled work.
    • Responsible for reviewing work orders and preventative maintenance inspection sheets for accuracy and completeness.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma/GED plus 6 years of boiler experience to include 6 months of supervisory experience; Education in lieu of experience may be accepted.
    • Arkansas High Pressure Boiler License
    • Computer program proficiency level: Novice
    • Valid driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record
