  • Overview

    This position offers collaborative and independent research opportunities at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health.  The major responsibilities include conceptualizing research questions, analyzing data, preparing manuscripts suitable for publication in leading journals, collaborating with Principal Investigators, research staff and community partners in preparing proposals for external funding and responding to RFPs. Successful candidate will lead and/or work closely with interdisciplinary staff/faculty/and student research teams in all aspect of research. This position is a two-year appointment.

    Responsibilities

    Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Works closely with study staff and community partners to assist with data collection related to ongoing studies. 
    • Works closely with the PIs to assist with development and implementation of data analyses related to existing datasets. 
    • May include overseeing part-time students in data collection and/or analyses related activities.

    Research Proposal Development:

    • Works closely with Principal Investigators and community partners to develop independent lines of research related to ongoing COPH research.

    Manuscript Preparation:

    • Works closely with Principal Investigators, research staff, and community partners to prepare manuscripts for leading public health journals.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • A doctoral degree in public health or other related field by the position's start date
    • 1-2 years of experience with community engaged research with vulnerable populations ( i.e., incarcerated individuals, minorities, LGBTQ populations)

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

    • Ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with criminal justice populations
    • Ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with LGBTQ populations
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and data Analyses software package (e.g. STATA, SAS SPSS)
    • Must be able to travel in-car for in-state travel
    • Must be able to walk and stand
