Duties: Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), serves as a member of the Study Management Team, working directly with co-investigators, study project officers and other funded study sites across the U.S. in relation to daily research operations. Analyze birth defects data (e.g., prevalence, incidence, time trends, risk factors on various populations). Use various software programs (e.g. SAS, STATA, etc.) to generate complex data summaries, tables, charts, and graphic displays to manipulate data. Perform geospatial analysis using Arc GIS or other similar mapping software. Design, oversee, and/or participate in the production of summary data for epidemiologic and statistical updates, writes reports for program review and assists in the preparation of annual and periodic data reports and related research studies. Develop and formulate procedures for validating the integrity of data and establishing and modifying databases used to document research. Conduct quality assurance and control activities. Identity risk factors associated with and descriptive epidemiology of etiology, morbidity and mortality of birth defects, conducting studies and research information or research projects. Respond to requests for epidemiological data as required. Serve as the liaison with the Arkansas Department of Health Vital Statistics for data linkage and subject identification. Train faculty and staff on the use of databases and analytic research data programs. Mentor interns, trainees and students as requested.
Requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or a closely related field plus two (2) years of postdoctoral associate, research assistant, bioinformatics analyst or related experience conducting statistical analysis of public health or clinical databases; performing database management, including quality assurance, developing data dictionaries and routine updates; developing experimental designs, general linear models, regressions and multivariate data analyses; generating complex data summaries using at least one of the following software programs: SAS, STATA, SPSS, R; preparing manuscripts for publication.
