The Preschool Teacher for Head Start directs the daily learning activities of students through the use age appropriate lesson plans.  S/He creates and maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning, both through physical classroom materials and instructional activities.  S/He implements approved regular goals while utilizing techniques necessary to motivate learning in small children and makes regular assessments of instructional materials for classroom and communicates need of replacement or repair as needed.  S/He supervises students in all activities both inside and outside the classroom and maintains 1-10  (1:4) child/staff ratio at all times. 


The Preschool-Infant-Toddler Teacher assists with counseling of parents for their academic, personal and social skills development.  S/He ensures that everything is in place in case of your absence; identifies achievement levels of each student and provides ongoing evaluation of progress.  S/He identifies and accesses behavioral concerns requiring involvement of program resource staff and establishes and maintains continuous communication between parents and staff.  S/He encourages parent involvement to increase literacy skills and classroom participation.  S/he becomes thoroughly knowledgeable of all required program standards and regulations and adhere to same and participates in school sponsored activities; and attends faculty staff meeting as required.

Salary offered commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education plus 1 year experience in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pound to chest level, able to bend, stand, see, hear, drive, speak and able to do repetitious movement.
  • Computer program proficiency level: Intermediate

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual skills
