Research Associate III

The Research Associate III position is available to assist in the management of laboratory operations and to conduct scientific research, particularly in the area of our NIH-funded project of DNA replication. Laboratory management will include procuring laboratory supplies, assisting in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, reagents, or procedures and generating reagents for the entire research group. The scientific research responsibilities will be based on experience, needs, and interests.  These may include protein purification, molecular biology, biochemical assays, crystallization trials, and/or working towards cryo-EM structure determination with local and national facilities.

Salary offered commensurate with experience

• Preparation of samples for structural analysis by protein expression and purification.
• Generation of new protein expression constructs by molecular biology approaches, and screening samples for structural study. 
• Independent analysis of structure following a period of on-the-job training. 
• Duties will include biochemical assays such as DNA-unwinding and ATPase assays.
• Placing orders (obtaining quotes, filling and submitting ordering forms, tracking order status and receiving orders).
• Maintaining records of laboratory inventories (supplies).
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment (centrifuges, chromatography equipment)
• Training of new employees and/or students in basic laboratory techniques.
• Overseeing staff compliance with the University, State and Federal guidelines for the safe operation of a laboratory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in bioscience or related field plus seven (7) years of research experience required.
