A Research Technologist position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular underpinnings of cardiovascular disease, and the interplay between inflammation and thrombosis. The research technician will contribute to extramurally-funded research.  The main duty will be to assist with lab animal research specifically in breeding and maintaining of mouse colonies.  Research includes models of cardiovascular disease and the individual may perform or assist in microsurgery on animals.  Additional duties will include tissue collection, fixation, cell culture, histochemistry, routine assays (e.g. ELISAs), qPCR and other cell/molecular biology as needed.

Salary $36,265


  • Performs research experiments including lab animal maintenance, record keeping, tissue collection and analysis, surgical procedures, cellular and molecular biology experiments.  
  • Perform (DLAM) Division of Laboratory Animals work and procedures.
  • Maintain lab equipment.
  • Maintain lab supplies & materials.
  • Laboratory ordering.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in bioscience or related field plus two (2) years of research experience required.
  • Ability to work closely with various laboratory animal specimen.
