The Research Assistant will provide support for a basic science research laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics. Applicant will be responsible for performing in vitro and in vivo experiments (tissue culture, DNA and protein purification, qPCR, PCR, Western Blotting, mice tumor assays etc.) as directed by the supervisor and general laboratory maintenance (ordering supplies, laboratory cleaning and organizing, stocking solutions, dish-washing, sterilization of reagents and supplies).

Salary:  offered commensurate with experience


  • Perform and assist with experiments as requested by the Principal Investigator (PI) (cell culture, molecular biology works, animal experiments).
  • Process, analyze and present data as directed by the PI.
  • Perform various animal treatment and procedures.
  • Place orders (obtain quotes, filling and submitting ordering forms, tracking order status and receiving orders).
  • Maintain records of laboratory inventories (reagents and supplies) and animal colonies.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and common spaces (incubators, shakers, water bath, pH meter, hoods and common lab benches).
  • Make stock solutions, dish-washing and autoclaving.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus three years of direct lab related experience, particularly in biochemistry, molecular-biology or related field.


Preferred experience:

  • Cancer biology and publications in the relevant field.
