Provider Enrollment is a unit with the FGP Contracting Services department and as such, falls under the Contracting Services cost center and budget.


The Provider Enrollment Coordinator works closely with Credentialing (MSOs at UAMS & ACH; Cred at CHCS PHO), COM departments, physicians and other licensed health care providers, insurance companies and FGP billing services to ensure provider information is properly recorded to ensure correct and timely billing for professional services provided. S/He provides detailed computing support in developing and managing reporting structures, tracking systems, automating any processes as possible, and for overall productivity and accuracy of the enrollment processes.


The Provider Enrollment Coordinator has extensive and regular interactions with other departments, COM departments, providers, carriers, and others. Decisions will have a direct impact upon the efficiency and effectiveness of Enrollment and upon direct staff. Decisions also have the potential to impact Credentialing, COM departments and Billing Services. Must function fairly independently with a strong awareness of the interactions and interdependency of all areas. This position does not directly influence budget-making decisions; however this person should possess the ability to understand the impact on the budget of decisions made from their unit.

Administrative Functions

  • Responds to provider and departmental questions timely and appropriately. Maintains professional competency and understanding of credentialing requirements.
  • Reviews enrollment status of providers and follow up as needed. Review reappointment dates and insure that all providers reappointments are compliant with the Bylaws, Rules and Regulation, and Departmental Policies and procedures. Adheres to Departmental confidentiality standards. Cross trains within the Department to support Out of State Medicaid Enrollment, Payer enrollment, and other administrative functions as needed.
  • Maintains productive work relationships with all internal and external contacts including: Physicians, Allied Health Professionals, Department Business Managers, Service Line Administrators, and designated contact person and Medical Staff leadership. Participate in continuing education programs offered by the System and external programs as appropriate


Assists with Enrollment of Providers

  • Responsibles for operational aspects and appropriate outcomes of this process. Reviews and recommends appropriate level of staff status for applicants and advises Department Business Administrators and Service Line Administrators. Prepares initial application packet for enrollment as a billing provider at UAMS.
  • Assures that the Provider completes all required information in a timely manner by working with both the provider and department business manager or designated contact person to obtain necessary information.
  • Ensures all enrollment activities are compliant with and Departmental Policies.
  • Remains abreast of new developments in the requirements for timely and efficient enrollment.
  • Reviews information with supervisor and clearly communicates any inadequacies in an applicants file to the Applicant, Business Administrator, and Department Chairman as needed.
  • Assures that time sensitive verifications used in enrollment process are reviewed regularly and followed up on where needed; Obtains copies of information needed from billing providers and departments to ensure timely and efficient enrollment in plans.
  • Responsibles for timely notification to supervisor, provider and departments. Maintains open communication with credentialing staff to ensure proper flow of information for applicants.

Information Management

  • Accurately enters data into the ECHO credentialing database; Assures that all information in the ECHO credentialing databases is current, complete and accurate. Provides reports as scheduled and requested. Maintains accurate records of the status of all applications at all times. Maintains claim eligibility table in Epic and processes enrollment issues located in Epic work queues.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree ORHigh School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of experience in medical administration  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in provider enrollment and/or out of state Medicaid claims
  • Credentialing Specialist Certification
