Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides direct patient care to assigned patients to Women’s Health.  The MA works under the direct supervision of the clinic nurse(s) by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination.
  • Assists with medical procedures and examinations
  • Conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and phlebotomy.
  • Performs EKG’s, dressing changes.
  • Administers approved medications. Researches and scribes physicians’.
  • Orders/accession orders for clinical laboratory or appropriate processing center.
  • Performs administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School, GED or equivalent
  • Current BLS
  • Completion of Medical Assistant training program from an accredited institution
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills; strong worth ethics and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Minimum one year of MA experience.
