The Milk Lab Technician is responsible for maintenance of the milk lab and preparation of infant feedings.  This position is responsible for collection, storage, and inventory of breast milk.  Milk Lab Tech prepares breast milk and formula daily according to orders, recipes, and department policies.  This position is responsible for cleaning and stocking the milk labs.  This position reports to the Milk Lab Manager.

Salary:  $14.00 hourly



  • Performs duties to ensure the daily operations of the Milk Lab. Maintains the lab so that breast milk and fortified formula feeds can be prepared in a safe environment.
  • Responsible for following the policies of the UAMS NICU Milk Lab in accordance with the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).
  • Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order and available to complete the tasks.
  • Maintains cleaning protocols and keeps pod refrigerators cleaned and organized.
  • Stocks the Milk Lab and communicates with the manager when items are needed.
  • Makes copies of paperwork and keeps donor breast milk organized.
  • Communicates with Patients, Guest, and Staff in a helpful manner and refers to the lactation RN or Dietitian as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED plus 1 year healthcare or foodservice related experience or some higher education in a nutrition or healthcare related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Human Milk Technician Certificate, or relevant healthcare related certification.
