- Perform ongoing experimental studies in collaboration with other members of the laboratory but will also be expected to initiate new projects.  - Design and perform scientific studies as related to the scientific objective of the laboratory. - Ensure that appropriate negative and positive controls are included in each study. - Trouble shoot and problem solve as related to experimental results for each study performed.  - Assist the PI in writing institutional protocols for conducting animal studies and for conducting studies with human tissue. - Become and remain up to date on all required training and certification for conducting animal, human, and bio-safety related studies. - Conduct research literature searches and develop a sophisticated understanding of the background literature that supports his or her experiments. - Prepare tissues and cell cultures for experimental studies. - Conduct necessary microscopic studies relating to his or her studies.  - Conduct animal studies relevant to the scientific aims of funded projects.  - Perform recombinant DNA work and measure and monitor gene expression in mice.  - Accurately record and analyze scientific data using appropriate statistical analysis.  - Prepare date in written and graphic form for review by the PT.  - Assist in the preparation of abstract and manuscripts for publication.  - Maintain accurate logs of antibodies, frozen cells, chemicals and other key reagents in the laboratory.  - Order supplies and reagents as needed for his or her studies following all institutional guidelines.  - Perform other duties as assigned.

Customer Service – Communicates with and provides support to Transplant Services Department personnel to coordinate all aspects of referral, evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care of transplant recipients and living donors. Requires daily prioritizing of workload to best meet department needs and maintain full clinic schedules. Remains current with regulatory agency (UNOS/CMS) administrative requirements. Demonstrates effective service recovery skills; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assists internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service   Office Duties/Supply – Schedules, reschedules, and coordinates appointments using the hospital systems by performing visit notifications of patients. Conducts pre-registration as needed, inputs and/or updates accurate patient information.  Communicates as needed with current/potential patients, ensuring necessary appointments and medical records are obtained. Relays medical record/financial information needs to applicable team member. Communicates with patient’s dialysis unit and referring physician to ensure they are informed of patient’s progress in the referral process, both telephonically and by letter.  Inventory, order, and stock supplies, clean and maintain equipment, Pick-up and deliver mail to mailroom. Schedule surgeries and/or tests. Responsible for cancel and reschedule appointments as requested.     Regulatory/Reports – Provides administrative support to the transplant office to include the generation of required forms, letters, and attachments to patients, referring physicians and regulatory agencies, assembling charts, educational packets, processing of blood mailers and supplies for HLA testing, copying, faxing, mail distribution.  Scanning and labeling all faxed records to HIM.  Ensuring all faxed records are filed correctly in patients EHR.    Professional Development–Attends required training and/or in-services. Attends staff meetings and participates in the orientation and/or training of new staff.  Participates in annual educational needs assessment. Maintains required job skill competencies and completes skill assessment annually. Completes and maintains documentation of continuing education hours annually.   Other duties may be assigned to this position. Customer Service– Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments. Deals with conflicts in a positive and professional manner using careful listening and negotiation skills to resolve disagreements.  Consistently utilizes communication devices and keeps accurate records as required.
