The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Float Division: Medical/Surgical, ICU and Maternal Infant (FD). These individual Float Divisions are units with no physical boundaries, but still maintain the integrity of each specialized team. The Medical/Surgical FD nurses have the opportunity to work on all of the medical and surgical areas. The ICU FD nurses have the opportunity to work in all of the ICU areas including intermediate care, ED, PACU. The Maternal Infant FD nurses have the opportunity to work in Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, the Ante-partum and Post-partum units.   The Float Division nurses’ use all of their nursing assessment and clinical skills to meet new patients, families and staff on a daily basis. To prepare these Float Division nurses to work in these specialty areas, a variety of courses are offered including Cardiac Dysrthymia, Chemotherapy and any of the Critical Care courses. Clinical orientation focuses on the nurse’s needs and strengths as they are partnered with a preceptor to maximize their orientation experience. All Float Division nurses receive a quarterly bonus of 25% for floating to the different areas. The Float pool team is a dynamic group of staff who meet the challenge and flexibility of a new assignment every day.

Data Reporting and Analysis - Assists Patient Safety and Relations’ Coordinators with RLDatix data analysis (Risk and Feedback) to identify performance gaps, trends, special cause variation, and potential causal factors of events reported and complaints/grievances entered. - Prepares presentations utilizing enhanced visual graphical tools and data displays (including control charts) and advanced statistical tools and analysis to provide ease of interpretation. - Provides technical and analytical data support to UAMS Health leaders in building RLDatix dashboards and creating reports to desired specificity by location, level of harm, and event type ensuring all timelines for abstraction and transmission of reports and data are met. - Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of reports generated while maintaining the integrity of the RLDatix database. - Extrapolates, analyze and convert RLDatix raw data into useful business intelligence using a variety of UAMS secure mediums and graphical displays in preparation for presentation and /or dissemination. - Creates and maintain documentation (including user manual and SOPs) related to RLDatix report creation, dashboard building, and technical system administration. - Interprets RLDatix data and develop processes for incorporating findings into the UAMS Vision 2029 Strategic Plan. - Performs ongoing research to guide best practice for RLDatix data analysis and visualization. - ReviewsRLDatix data related to EOPs/COPs and other regulatory/accreditation requirements including those set forth by The Joint Commission, CMS, Vizient and Leapfrog and other reporting and oversight bodies. This may include data related to patient safety indicators, infection control, mortality and other data sets. - Assists patient safety and quality management staff in its analysis of RLDatix data to identify patient safety/quality issues/trends, causes and contributing factors that impact patient safety and quality of care. - Under the direction of the Director of Patient Safety, Clinical Risk and Patient Relations assist with regulatory visits by providing support with the RLDatix system Data Integration and Training - Work with Informatics to enhance data fields in the Electronic Health Record to improve patient safety data accuracy and completeness. - Develop and provide ongoing RLDatix system training to privileged providers and all ICE staff (clinical and non-clinical) regarding patient safety event reporting including but not limited to how to enter a patient safety event, how to address issues in the manager file, how to respond to assigned tasks, and how to create reports and build dashboards. - Engage in timely and professional communication with medical staff, nursing department directors/managers, and front line staff regarding requests for RLDatix system training, tech support, form revision, report and dashboard creation. - Create educational materials, tip sheets, and video tutorials related to the use of the RLDatix system and make the tools available on the Patient Safety website.
