The IPSC serves both graduate and undergraduate programs in the College of Nursing therefore collaboration with graduate nursing faculty to develop, plan, and facilitate simulation at a higher level may be required. The IPSC works closely with the UAMS Simulation Center and the Office of Interprofessional Education on the Little Rock campus, as well as the Simulation Center on the Northwest Arkansas campus. The individual is expected to maintain collaborative working relationships with all associated personnel. This faculty member will have responsibility for scheduling simulations and labs within the College of Nursing’s IPSC and at other UAMS affiliated lab/simulation sites. Occasional travel to Northwest Arkansas may be required.
The Associate Dean for Academic Programs will have general supervisory responsibility of personnel and operation. The IPC Coordinator will be responsible for immediate supervision, direction and collaboration with the faculty member and Course Coordinators.
Front Desk duties:
- Sign in and check in every patient as Arrived in Epic.
- Maintain timely patient flow through clinic.
- Verify insurance information via Epic or websites.
Patient Registration:
- Interview patients and key patient demographic information via the phone or patients presenting at the clinic.
- Obtain updated Benefit assignment and consent forms annually.
- Provide Share and Proxy forms for signature.
- Ensure insurance is active and we are the PCP.
- Complete MSPQ as prompted.
Demographic / Account Reviews:
- Well Child recalls are completed in a timely process according to AR Medicaid guidelines,
- Take payments on accounts as required.
- Check patient account balances when requested.
- Balance daily cash drawer and prepare deposit.
Record Keeping:
- Scan the insurance/prescription cards and consent forms into the Epic software.
- Forward Share and Proxy forms to the departments for further processing.
- Create staff messages for nursing phone calls, voicemails, referral calls, appointment request WQ, and well child phone calls.
- Maintain voicemail count every month.
Communication Skills:
- Capable to communicate with patients with various personalities.
- Promote positive customer, provider, and coworker satisfaction.
- Log into the call center and answer voicemails timely.
Job Skills:
- Acquires familiarity with screens, keyboard, and database of the business office software to allow independent functioning in daily job duties.
- Maintains knowledge of 3rd party and Medicare regulations as they relate to patient registration and acceptance of out-of-network patients in order to obtain optimal reimbursement.
- Exhibits problem solving ability and pursues all avenues before requesting assistance.

Referral Management:
- Develops procedure for managing referrals by gathering and authenticating patient health information and analyzing existing data. This includes obtaining PHI orders, affidavits and medical record provider information/forms.
- Contacts contractor staff as appropriate.
- Adheres to HIPAA standards.
Data Input:
- Inputs referral information into databases within 2 days of receipt and with accuracy.
- Updates information as required.
Records:
- Contacts sources for records as instructed.
- Assists clinical staff in gathering data and contacting outside agencies for information as requested.
- Analyzes referral trends to meet scheduling and clinical needs.
- Provides the Clinic Director with reports as requested.
Work Processes:
- Consults and coordinates with assigned team member(s) to insure work processes are completed within the required timeframe on a daily basis.
- Provides coverage for team member(s) during times of their absence.
- Works cooperatively with clinical staff and other support staff and provides on site support when needed.

- Conducts examination and completes evaluation with individualized plan of care for each patient. Consults with medical practitioners, patient, and appropriate others. Conducts daily treatments, which may consist of gait training, transfer training, functional mobility, balance training, endurance training, strength training, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and patient and family education. Monitors patient’s physiological status during sessions and adjust interventions based on patient response. Evaluates patient progress and modifies treatment plans as necessary. Ensures care is consistent with standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining departmental productivity standards. Prepares appropriate patient documentation and charging per department, HIPAA and Joint Commission standards where applicable.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with colleagues, interdisciplinary teams, leadership, and other stakeholders. Collaborates with the physical therapist assistant providing therapy services to patients under the PT’s plan of care. Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record. Reports variances in care/systems/processes through the appropriate means.
- Participates in meetings, continuing education, protocol reviews, manual reviews. Participates in unit/department based organizational activities/committees. Demonstrates commitment to development and growth. Provides education regarding physical therapy by serving as a clinical instructor, mentor for clinical observer, and by providing inservices to other disciplines when requested. Evaluates personal performance based on professional practice standards. Uses constructive feedback from peers and supervisors to improve practice and performance. Maintains clinical competencies and compliance to specific to area of practice/responsibility.
- Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse(s) and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.
- Obtains patient report and has on-going communication with R.N. regarding patient care/changes in condition; Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints.
- Carries out the Plan of Care for Patient using a Multidisciplinary Approach as Delegated by Team Leader.
- Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care.
- Accepts directions from R.N.s and team members.
- Follows through on delegated patient care activities.
- Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with activities (ambulation, up in chair, turn and reposition).
- Documents all patient care activities/tasks, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, I&O's accurately and timely and per unit and department standards.
- Assists patients and visitors with information and/or solutions to problems.
- Serves as resources person to support department members in performance of duties.

- Cleans, cut, and cooks food items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served

- Inspects food before service for taste, appearance, temperatures and quality.
General Interventional Radiology Technologist responsibilities:
- Educates and prepares patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, draping and positioning the patient, preparing procedural/testing sites and administering contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice
- Assists physician with performing diagnostic and therapeutic vascular interventional procedures
- Analyzes results and takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues
- Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
- Assists with monitoring patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment
- Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary and keeps coworkers informed of status
- Responsible for daily work assignments.
- Serves in active role in maintaining ACR accreditation and various JCAHO, FDA, ODH inspections.
- Assists in interviewing, selection, and orientation/training of new staff members
- Ensures proper staff education requirements
- Actively involved in the discipline process when necessary, particularly verbal and written counseling
- Maintains knowledge and skills to perform duties

- Responsible for accurately ordering and completely filling par levels of medical/surgical supplies in automated supply cabinets and manually controlled bulk par rooms
- Checks par areas on a daily basis and as assigned; breaks down pallets and delivers supplies on carts; refills central supply inventory locations and adjusts inventory counts
- Counts, manages and places replenishment orders as needed
- Rotates supplies into Sterile and non-sterile area’s on shelves, specialty carts, floors on the FIFO (first in, first out) basis when restocking; daily checks supplies for package integrity and outdates and removes damaged or outdated supplies
- Performs cycle counts and corrects counts on a daily basis and as needed to ensure accurate inventory counts
- Maintains cabinets and carts in assigned areas in a neat and orderly basis; organizes shelves, bins and labels and keeps the supply areas clean; follows through on needed repairs to cabinets and carts; removes unauthorized/excessive/damaged/outdated supplies
- Staffs the Central Supply dispatch window and tube systems as assigned; issues and records, supplies that are sent via pick up, delivery or tube system
- Issues out procedural trays and carts and records the issuance

- Performs tasks that pertain to the general maintenance of the UAMS campus. Duties include, but limited to: minor carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, painting, electrical, and preventative maintenance.
- Carpentry – Ceiling tile replacement, furniture repair, installation of T.V. brackets, bulletin boards, file holders, & pictures, minor drywall repair, and painting.
- Plumbing - Repair or replace flush valves, sinks, faucets, p-traps, water supplies, etc. Remove obstructions from clogged urinals, sinks, toilets, sewer lines, etc.
- HVAC/Mechanical - Change belts, filters, air registers, etc.
- Electrical – Reset breakers, change receptacle, light switches, cover plates, light bulbs, light fixtures, ballast, etc.
- Preventive Maintenance – Perform preventative maintenance inspections and procedures in accordance to preventative maintenance instructions and applicable codes.
- Performs tasks that pertain to the maintenance of the UAMS electrical/lighting system. Examples of, but not limited to: repair, maintain, & replacement of lamps, lighting ballast, lighting controllers, time clocks, photo cells, life safety lighting, devices (switches & receptacles), and the resetting or replacement of overcurrent protection devices such as fuses and circuit breakers.
- Completes documentation essential for Engineering & Operations work order system and preventative maintenance program.
- Delivers supplies, food and playground materials.
